House of Rugs

The brief

To design and develop an e-commerce site for a startup rug e-retailer in the competitive homewares sector. 

The approach

Before any creative development could take place, it was important to determine the positioning that the brand would take in a somewhat crowded sector. Our research discovered that there were high-end and low-end/volume players, with opportunities to leverage a fashion-forward orientation with a fast and friendly approach, which we could drive through social media to stimulate awareness, engagement and sales. 

The Creative

We didn't need to overthink this. The logo needed to be clean, which we achieved with a clear, modern typeface, but with the gentlest nod to more refined fashion with the inclusion of a serif 'of'.  The colour palette we created works from a primary base of navy, blush and dove grey, with supporting pops of ochre and mustard to bring definition and flexibility to the brand. Imagery was largely driven by our client's supplier, and we selected key images with a modern, Scandinavian-style aesthetic to drive the brand. The e-commerce site design was clean, clear and with plenty of white space to provide a user experience that was both easy-to-use and referenced the design-orientation of the brand.
